A percentage is a number expressed out of 100.

Percentage = (Value / Total) × 100

Example:

If you score 45 marks out of 50

(45/50) × 100 = 90%

🔹 2. Conversion Between Fractions, Decimals & Percentages

(A) Fraction → Percentage

(a/b) × 100%

1/4 = 25%

3/5 = 60%

2/25 = 8%

(B) Percentage → Fraction

Divide by 100

40% = 40/100 = 2/5

(C) Decimal → Percentage

Multiply by 100

0.5 = 50%

(D) Percentage → Decimal

Divide by 100

45% = 0.45

🔹 3. Percentage Increase & Decrease

Percentage Increase

(Increase / Original) × 100

Example:

Price increases from 80 to 100

Increase = 20

(20/80) × 100 = 25%

Percentage Decrease

(Decrease / Original) × 100

Example:

Price decreases from 200 to 160

Decrease = 40

(40/200) × 100 = 20%

🔹 4. Successive Percentage Formula

A + B + (A × B)/100

Example:

Increase 20% and 30%:

20 + 30 + (20 × 30)/100 = 56%

🔹 5. Percentage of Quantity

Example 1:

20% of 150

(20/100) × 150 = 30

Example 2:

12% of 450

0.12 × 450 = 54

🔹 6. Finding Number from Percentage

If x% of a number = y, then Number = (y × 100)/x

Example:

30% of number = 45

(45 × 100)/30 = 150

🔹 7. Percentage Comparison

(A - B)/B × 100

Example:

A = 60, B = 40

Difference = 20

(20/40) × 100 = 50%
